## Ulti's Analysis

The other wild card match on day one was this one, and it was equally predictable as the first. The only notable thing here about the actual match is that it was one of only six matches in the wild cards or round one where the winner scored under seventy percent. This contest was blowout city even past that, but still.

What I want to know is who on earth are the people that voted for 1983? If you voted as a joke, great. I get it. But if you actually think 1983 was a better year than 1989, you're insane. Atari being stupid in the early 80s almost made it so we had no video games at all, and E.T. in 1983 specifically was the lynchpin for it. Gaming in America was all but dead after that debacle, and if it wasn't for Japan being intelligent with their business practices, gaming would have died. I was born in 1983 so I'm not old enough to have been there, but gamers in my family used to tell stories about Atari almost killing things. I grew up hearing about it. Granted E.T. isn't quite as bad as something like Warcraft 3, Hearthstone, or Shadow of the Colossus, but still.

Although in an ironic way, I guess some people actually do hope for another crash and revere 1983's influence in that regard.
