# 1992 vs 2016 _source: 1992 vs 2016 (revid 81306)_ ## Results **Round One** Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 ## Ulti's Analysis There was a lot of pre-contest chatter about 2016 pulling off a rally and potentially being our dark horse this contest, but you know how rallies get shut down? You put them in an impossible match early on in a contest. We've seen rallies fail more often than they've succeeded, and I feel like 2016 is a good example. It might have caught a rally with better bracket placement, but in this contest it was immediately up against the Link to the Past year. Good freaking luck bro, and as we saw 2016 got absolutely demolished. This is the trick to it. Draven doesn't win if he's against Link in round one, but he caught his momentum the right way. Same for Undertale getting Mass Effect 3 in round one and Fallout 3 in round two. Same for Missingno getting Sephiroth in a night match, Melee fans being every bit as insane as Starcraft fans, Mario being a better cheater than Crono, and L-Block getting the perfect sequence of events. Rallies are almost 100% bracket placement and luck, and do not ruin our contests in any way. 2016 getting dumpstered here is a great example. There are other games in 2016 besides Overwatch, which is actually a complete garbage game due to Blizzard making it. Trash company making yet another trash video game. Street Fighter 5 had a bitched launch which really soured me on enjoying the game, but that's Crapcom's DLC practices for you. I've stopped falling for it, but a buddy bought me SF5 and all the DLC for it so whatever. Pokemon Go was a shitty fad that lasted all of a week, and thank god the fad ended before this match. That's actually a rally I would have hated, even though I would have justified it with "Pokemon Red/Blue are the ones actually winning so fuck you". Haven't played Dark Souls 3 yet. The highlights of the year for me are Final Fantasy 15 and Fire Emblem Fates. I could go on HUGE rants about how much I love those four games, but I wrote very long reviews for all of them. Just read those instead. As for 1992, it has MOTHER FUCKING LINK TO THE PAST. THE BEST ZELDA GAME. Do I really need to explain myself here? Oh and it also has the best Sonic game (2), TWO Mega Man games, and TWO Dragon Warriors. This match was the best possible result.
