My odds of winning this contest were literally zero by the time this match happened, but I'm doing a mini rant about this match anyway. Everyone on Board 8 has a match where they got annoyed by picture fuckery, and this one was mine. Leading up to this contest, system release dates were made into a big deal. Allen asked for them in the blurbs he never used, Allen himself listed them in the year info pages, and a ton of us factored system release dates in our bracket picks. We all assumed systems would be allowed in match pictures, especially given Allen literally asked for them on the picsmith form.

Know how many match pictures in this contest featured a system?

Zero. Not a one.

You cannot call this contest "Best Year In Gaming" and leave out the one thing people actually care about with years, which is system releases. No one gives a shit what year their favorite game came out, but they absolutely know what year their favorite system came out. So for systems to not be included in match pictures in this contest was a fucking joke, especially for a year like 1991. The Super Nintendo is this site's favorite system by a mile, and I'm not pulling that factoid out of thin air. Run a poll search on "Super Nintendo" on GameFAQs some time.

Totally unacceptable for the Super Nintendo not to be in this match picture. Totally unacceptable for the Playstation not to be in the 1995/2001 match picture (I don't think 1995 would have won either way given three systems should have been in the 2001 match pic, but the fact that we even have to talk about this is a disgrace). Totally unacceptable for systems to be forgotten. Period.

1991 won the board vote, then got run over. 1994 may have won this match anyway, but we shouldn't even be having this debate. You put systems in the match pictures for a contest like this. The end. Pretty much every close match in this contest had an excuse attached because of this no-system garbage, and I promise you I'm not alone in being upset about it. Why even ask for systems on the picsmith form? Dumb.
