Round & Division

Bracket position for every match. Round and division for 2002–2006 come from the site's match database; 2007–2020 are read from the archived official bracket pages; Game of the Decade (2010) is taken from the Board 8 wiki writeup infoboxes. Division is blank for Best Year in Gaming (no divisions) and for cross-division rounds from the Quarterfinal on. Battle Royale and bonus matches are labelled and sort last by round.

Bracket Pick %

Correct picks by battle from the GameFAQs official stats pages. Blank for Character Battle IX (2013), Game of the Decade 2 (2020) and a few bonus polls, which published no bracket stats; those sort last.

For the 2007-2009 four-way contests the % Correct and Partial correct for both the first place and second place winners are given. Only the winner's exact-slot figure is used for sorting.

You can display two-entrant or multi-entrant matches only using the respective links.

Oracle columns

The Oracle Consensus cell is the Oracle Challenge crowd consensus: each entrant's mean predicted vote share, listed in the same order as the Result column so the two line up. The expected winner is bold, with a when that pick lost. Oracle MAE is the mean absolute error, in points, between the consensus shares and the real result — lower means a closer prediction. Matches with no Oracle predictions (all of Summer 2002, half of 2003, most novelty polls) show “—” and sort last.

In the three- and four-way contests each competitor was scored on its own, so the consensus percentages need not total exactly 100 — in practice they almost always do.

Name aliases

These spelling variants are treated as one entrant when you filter by name. Aliases are scoped to the contest type, so the same name can resolve differently for a character, a game and a series.

CB 2006 Battle Royale

Polls 2562–2566 are the Character Battle 2006 Battle Royale: a six-way poll, then five-, four-, three- and two-way as entrants were eliminated. Vote counts come from the poll-update history — the summary table stores only two of the names for these.
